KNOWING YOURSELF LETS YOU UNDERSTAND OTHERS

ENSURE THAT YOUR LIFE STAYS IN FLUX

IF YOU HAVE MANY DESIRES YOUR LIFE WILL BE INTERESTING

PEOPLE ARE BORING UNLESS THEY ARE EXTREMISTS

ENJOY YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU CAN'T CHANGE ANYTHING ANYWAY

MONOMANIA IS A PREREQUISITE OF SUCCESS

TALKING IS USED TO HIDE ONE'S INABILITY TO ACT

RECHANNELING DESTRUCTIVE IMPULSES IS A SIGN OF MATURITY

THE NEW IS NOTHING BUT A RESTATEMENT OF THE OLD

Zurich

Unlike my expectation, Zurich was really small city. Yeah, right, Only I have about Zurich was from the board Game "Burumable" Zuirch is not even the capital(Bern) of Swiss. But it was really well-organized city with nature&environment.

Unfortunately, for to take the camera. So all that I can have was from I-phone. Low quality/narrow angle.
Anyhow, good to see it. If I have chance to come again, I will go to Basel for contemporary architecture. =)

failed 2

the title of our work was 3some.
1. 3 distinct object are making relationship by program.
2. but each object are having a similar organization but different position.
3. accroding to relationship, there are insertion, holding, supporting, and etc.

So, I put the name "3some" somehow against other guy's opposition. =)

anyway, at the begiining, 3 different massing was discrete. However at the end, it has been compromised since the program need more wide/large linkage.

Quote 3

Manifesto of Digital counter-revolution in architecture
by Penezic & Rogina Architects

from 2008 Venice biennale

-As the mechanical age comes to its very end, architects should cope with it instead of being obsolete creatures in the Reality more real than the Real One, created by Humans;
-The Mechnical Age's architecture was too exclusive, too sculptural, too theoretical, too complicated, too serious, too isomorphic, too rhetorical;
-The architecture of the Digital Age doesn't necessarily mean the rejection of previous approaches, but, on the contrary, their approproation and distortion; architecture should be more applicable, more lively, easier, more joyful, more hybrid, more "real";
-If the Mechanical is ORTHODOX, the digital is PARADOX; if the Mechanical is PLUG-IN, the Digital is UNPLUGGED; if the Mechanical is EITHER-OR, the Digital is NO_END; if the Mechanical is EXCLUSIVE, the Digital is ELUSIVEl
-The architecture of the Digital Age(nature itself whose form is given by the flow of instantaneous relations)should emphasize TRIBAL QUALITIES of new IT societies whos main features are interconnectivity, tactile vision, transgression, total surround and interactivity.

Switching On and Off by Ben Van Berkel

Today, architecture is determined too much by the values surrounding it. Can architecture be denuded of these values, and if so, what does this stripped architecture embody?...

From 2008 Venice Biennale.

Manifesto by Asymptote architecture

Prototying the Future---

Architecture is the only meaning of navigating the poetry engineering. Architecture is not Design.
Critics are frightened(that is the rule): theorists are frustrated(that is the reality).
Academia is the place where real advances are made and practice simply produces results as opposed to possibilities.
Architecture has nothing to do with sculpture, and sculpture has everything to do with architecture. Musicality and mathematics are the foundations of any great works of architecture, but logic can be its undoing.
Architecture is the is the definitively provocative art of our time, a prime target for upheaval and unraveling, which has yet to be really challenged. Architecture is by no means the pursuit of building design.; rather it is simply built thought.
Architecture is not design.

Quotation

The importance of order, from a purely mathematical standpoint, has been immeasurably increased by many modern development. Dedekind, Cantor, and Peano have shown how to base all arithmatic and analysis upon series of a certain kind ..... Irrations are defined ..... Entirely by te help of order .... Projective geometry has shown how to give points, lines and planes an order independent of metrical considerations and of quantity : while descriptive geometry proves that a very large part of geometry demands only the possibility of serial arrangements.

The Computer, the Brain, and the Internet

Ginger Richardson
Santa Fe Institute

The Computer, the Brain, and the Internet

The quest to understand intelligence and consciousness remains one of the greatest scientific challenges of our age. In an effort to explain the brain, scientists have turned historically to computers, both as a tool for studying the brain and mind, and as a model for how the brain might work. We now live in the age of distributed data and computers, and the internet has emerged as a giant cobweb of communication among computers and their users. Some now suggest that the internet is our best current model for the brain, and thought is nothing but a form of search in the space of ideas. As we move towards more advanced technology, the brain, the computer, and the internet are progressively merging, and our identities and insights are assuming a radically new form. In this series of talks and discussions we shall explore this new hybrid world and its implications for the intellectual future of our species.

NInety years old Manifesto(1919) by Bauhaus

ORIGINAL BLOG - ANARCHITECTURE

The ultimate aim of all creative activity is a building! The decoration of buildings was once the noblest function of fine arts, and fine arts were indispensable to great architecture. Today they exist in complacent isolation, and can only be rescued by the conscious co-operation and collaboration of all craftsmen. Architects, painters, and sculptors must once again come to know and comprehend the composite character of a building, both as an entity and in terms of its various parts. Then their work will be filled with that true architectonic spirit which, as "salon art", it has lost.

.....
.....
....

Architects, painters, sculptors, we must all return to crafts! For there is no such thing as "professional art". There is no essential difference between the artist and the craftsman. The artist is an exalted craftsman. By the grace of Heaven and in rare moments of inspiration which transcend the will, art may unconsciously blossom from the labour of his hand, but a base in handicrafts is essential to every artist. It is there that the original source of creativity lies.

Let us therefore create a new guild of craftsmen without the class-distinctions that raise an arrogant barrier between craftsmen and artists! Let us desire, conceive, and create the new building of the future together. It will combine architecture, sculpture, and painting in a single form, and will one day rise towards the heavens from the hands of a million workers as the crystalline symbol of a new and coming faith.

Walter Gropius
